“ I visited for the first time today and had a special beef beehoon with iced milk tea for $8.50. I was deciding between three or four stars and decided on a four because I really enjoyed the broth. What didn't work for me was the rather lacklustre service, milk tea tasting like sugar water and lack of ingredients except for a few bits of beef in my noodles. What was great was the broth! Good for a try but I'm not sure it's good enough to return. ”
“ I have been wanting to try the Boat Noodle for the longest time. I guessed I just wanted to see how tiny the bowl can be. Now that I have tried it, I will just order the big (considered regular) bowl in future. For $1.90, the small bowl literally has enough noodle for one huge spoonful. I went with the pork (slice, ball and liver) version in the original normal spicy soup. The staff warned us that normal spicy is really spicy. For once it is true. Be warn. The heat will warm your core. And the pork is nicely done, with just cooked liver. For my big bowl, I went with less spicy original soup and chose beef (slice and ball, since I was not sure if I would like beef liver) for my meat. It had a generous serving of ingredients for $5.50. The less spicy was still very spicy for me. My colleague had the original non spicy soup with pork. I think that was the best of the lot as you could actually drink the soup without reaching for the milk tea to numb the fire. There are so many ways to customize your noodles that I will want to go back again and again. It is located in Sim Lim Square, facing the main road and very near Rochor MRT station. It opens around 11am or so but it will be safer to be there after 11.30am. ”
“ Located on the outside of Sim Lim square facing across Rochor Road at the first level, this little Noodle cafe is worth trying when you want to take a break from braving the hard sell shenanigans at Sim Lim Square. It has a delightfully simple menu, choose beef or pork, choose size, choose soup, choose level of spicyness, choose side dish, choose drink. All done in a simple clean friendly environment. With the friendliness element a welcome respite from the sales pitches on the lower levels inside Sim Lim square. Service was fast and friendly, mine came out with beef, including delicious meatballs and beef liver along with level 3/4 spicyness with special soup and a side order of bean sprouts. Keep in mind the large will be about the size of a breakfast cereal bowl. Flavor was great, with the black spices giving the soup a very dark appearance without overpowering the beef. Everything tasted fresh and I washed it down with a sweet Thai milk tea. All for a reasonable $5. For sure worth a visit. ”
